Keynote Speaker-1: Garfield Southall

Garfield holds the post of Executive Dean for the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Chester, UK, and started his career there, as Chester College, back in 1984, working as a computer consultant until being appointed as a Computer Science Senior Lecturer in 1990. He undertook various roles within the department and became Head of Computer Science and Mathematics / Associate Dean in 2011, followed by Associate Dean in 2013, before becoming Executive Dean in 2017.

 

He is a Governor at University Church of England Academy Ellesmere Port, and sits on on the board of University of Chester Academies Trust (UCAT). Enhancing the education not only of students, but those in local schools, is a major driving force for Garfield..

 

Garfield's research background is in programming software agents for biological simulation and has led on the development of Cyber Security and Games Development courses for the faculty. He is also a board member of the British Computer Scociety (BCS) and chairs a number of their central committees.

 

His interests are ultra-distance trail running, cycling and music of all flavours.


 
 

 
 
Keynote Speaker-2: Professor Andrew Ware

Professor Andrew Ware, Professor of Computing, Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science, University of South Wales, UK.

As Professor in Computing, Andrew is engaged in both teaching and research. He is currently supervising eight PhD students and leading on a number of initiatives with local companies.

Beyond the University, Professor Ware is currently working as external examiner in Computing for Staffordshire University, with particular responsibility for helping to oversee the development of new provision in Ghana. In terms of international work, Professor Ware is currently the USW representative on two European Funded Intensive Programmes and involved with projects in Singapore, Norway and Canada.

High Performance Computing (HPC) Wales is an innovative collaboration that gives businesses and researchers access to world-class, secure and relatively easy to use HPC technology. USW is one of the partners in the collaboration and has devolved targets in terms of industrial usage, student engagement, as well as research and curriculum development. Professor Ware is the lead academic from USW on this exciting and dynamic project.

Andrew has supervised nearly 30 PhD students and has lead on collaborative projects both within the UK and Europe. He has lectured in many parts of the World including the USA, Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong. His main research interest is the application of AI techniques to help solve real world problems.


 
 

 
 
Invited Speaker-1: Dr. Amirrudin Bin Kamsin

Dr. Amirrudin Bin Kamsin, is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya, Malaysia.

He received his BIT (Management) in 2001 and MSc in Computer Animation in 2002 from University of Malaya and Bournemouth University, UK respectively. He obtained his PhD from University College London (UCL) in 2014. His research areas include human computer interaction (HCI), authentication systems, e-learning, mobile applications, serious game, augmented reality and mobile health services.
